Mike deGroot

MD

Dr. Mike deGroot grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated the University of Pennsylvania for his undergraduate degree in 1986. He completed a Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Fellowship at NIH in Bethesda, Maryland, before completing his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Virginia Medical School in 1994. Dr. deGroot completed his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Stanford Medical Center in 1999 and his Fellowship in Interventional Radiology at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis in 2000. He worked in private practice in Denver, Colorado for 15 years prior to joining Via Radiology.

He is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology from the American Board of Radiology and has subspecialty certification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

Dr. deGroot’s area of expertise is Interventional Radiology. Among the many procedures he performs are peripheral arterial intervention, DVT thrombolysis, venous reconstruction, dialysis access, back pain injections, kyphoplasty, chemoembolization, radiofrequency ablation, uterine fibroid embolization, pelvic venous congestion treatment, and port placement. He also performs body imaging and general radiology.

His personal interests include cooking, core fitness training, scuba, travel, and home improvement and design.

Shari Jackson

MD

Dr. Shari M. Jackson, a Washington State native, received her medical degree from the University of Washington in 2000. She completed her internship in General Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001. In 2005, she completed her residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Duke University Health System, where she served as chief resident. She completed her fellowship in Neuroradiology in 2006, also at Duke University Health System, where she trained extensively in imaging-guided procedures. During her training, Dr. Jackson was first author for two articles in peer-reviewed publications.

She is board-certified in Diagnostic Radiology from the American Board of Radiology and has subspecialty certification in Neuroradiology.

Dr. Jackson performs a wide variety of pain management procedures, including epidural steroid injections, nerve root blocks, and facet injections using CT guidance. In addition, Dr. Jackson specializes in treatment of varicose veins and spider veins, utilizing endovenous laser treatment (EVLT), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microphlebectomy, and sclerotherapy .

Ray Jensen

MD

Dr. Ray Jensen, born in Texas, graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in 1990. He completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he served as chief resident, in 1995 and a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of Washington in 1996.

He is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology from the American Board of Radiology and has subspecialty certification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Jensen's area of expertise is Interventional Radiology. He is also the current medical director of interventional radiology at Northwest Hospital & Medical Center. Among the many procedures he performs are tumor therapy procedures (including radiofrequency ablation, and chemoembolization), catheter-directed intervention in acute stroke, uterine fibroid embolization, vertebroplasty,
kyphoplasty, interventional pain management (including epidural steroid injections, nerve root blocks, and facet blocks), TIPS, DVT thrombolysis, arteriography, angioplasty, arterial and venous stenting, aortic stent grafts (performed in conjunction with Vascular Surgery), venous ablation, and sclerotherapy. Dr. Jensen is one of the founders of Via Vascular.

Frederic Joseph

MD

Dr. Frederic Joseph, born in New York, graduated from Emory University School of Medicine in 1989. He completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Emory University in 1994 and a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at Wilford Hall Medical Center in 1995.

He is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology from the American Board of Radiology and has subspecialty certification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Joseph's area of expertise is Interventional Radiology. He is currently the director of outpatient interventional radiology services at Via Vascular. Among the many procedures he performs are vertebroplasty, minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins, tumor therapy procedures (including radiofrequency ablation and chemoembolization), uterine fibroid embolization, kyphoplasty, catheter-directed intervention in acute stroke, interventional pain management (including epidural steroid injections, nerve root blocks, and facet blocks), TIPS, DVT thrombolysis, arteriography, angioplasty, and arterial and venous stenting.

Dr. Joseph is one of the founders of Via Vascular.

Stephen Whipple

DO

Dr. Stephen Whipple received his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in 2000. He completed a surgical internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in 2001 before beginning his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of California at Irvine (UCI). After finishing his residency, he stayed at UCI to complete a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

He is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology and has subspecialty board certification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Whipple’s area of expertise is Interventional Radiology. Dr. Whipple performs a wide variety of procedures, including uterine fibroid embolization, vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, interventional pain management (including epidural steroid injections, nerve root blocks, and facet blocks), catheter-directed intervention in acute stroke, tumor therapy procedures (including radiofrequency ablation, and chemoembolization), TIPS, DVT thrombolysis, arteriography, angioplasty, arterial and venous stenting, aortic stent grafts (performed in conjunction with Vascular Surgery), venous ablation, sclerotherapy, and thermocoagulation.

Lucy Zeallear

RN

Lucy is a Seattle native and has worked in healthcare for 15 years. She has been a registered nurse for 10 years, where she spent the first 5 years of her career working in Critical Care/ICU. She went on to do procedural sedation, administering moderate sedation to patients undergoing a variety of procedures. She joined Via Radiology/Via Vascular in September 2016. Lucy runs the sclerotherapy clinic for Via Vascular and sees patients for consultations for a variety of concerns, from cosmetic issues such as spider veins to patients with varying stages of venous disease requiring medical treatment. She also works in the interventional radiology department for Via Radiology providing sedation for patients undergoing various therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Lucy is the Nurse Manager for Via Radiology/Via Vascular.

Her philosophy of care is to provide compassionate and competent care to every person she meets. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her children and husband, traveling , and cooking.
